La Fontaine graded 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted

On 26th and 27th June 2024, La Fontaine Academy had a section 5 (graded) inspection by Ofsted. Following the two day visit, by four inspectors (two Ofsted Inspectors and two His Majesty's Inspectors), La Fontaine Academy was graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all five areas, with an overall effectiveness grade of Outstanding.

This is the result of many years of hard work and dedication by many people. It is an incredible achievement and we are very proud of our school and community. The report reflects that the effort and commitment that goes into this school, from all those involved, makes a direct impact on our children and their future life choices.

Quotes from the Ofsted report:

‘This is a friendly and inspiring place to learn’”

“Teaching staff are skilled and use consistent approaches to support pupils with their learning.”

“The school has high expectations for pupils in all areas of their learning.”

“All pupils study a curriculum that goes beyond the breadth and scope of the national curriculum.”

“One member of staff summed up the view of many colleagues, ‘It’s the best school I’ve ever worked in.’”

A huge thanks goes to our entire community: staff, families, governors, but most of all our incredible children (who blew the inspectors away with how smart and kind they are).

Notes:

The inspectors held meetings with the headteacher and other senior school leaders including those responsible for safeguarding.  They also met with members of the governing body and representatives from the trust.

The inspectors carried out deep dives in these subjects: reading, mathematics, modern fore ign languages, geography and physical education . These involved discussions with curriculum leaders and teachers, visits to lessons, scrutiny of pupils work and discussions with pupils. Other subjects were also considered. The inspectors considered replies to the online survey, Ofsted Parent View, and to the online surveys for pupils and staff
